When children go to school on empty stomachs, their ability to focus, engage, learn, and thrive is severely compromised. Recognizing this issue, in 2016 we initiated a vital effort – installing two mini food pantries at Mt. Shasta and Weed elementary schools. Over the years, our program has grown, now encompassing 14 schools, with plans for further expansion. These pantries serve as a lifeline, enabling teachers to offer nutritious snacks to hungry students throughout the school day. Additionally, teachers can assemble small take-home bags, bridging the food gap that many students face over weekends. Together, we’re ensuring that no child’s education is hindered by hunger.
It’s more than just a program or a service – it’s a community-driven initiative. The Mt Shasta Rotary club members generously donate their time to deliver. Your donations are not only welcomed but also vital in sustaining this invaluable service. Your support is the backbone of our program, ensuring its continued existence and growth. We deeply appreciate your contributions, which enable us to make a meaningful impact. Thank you for being an essential part of our mission.
