Great Northern Services (GNS) is sponsoring a USDA Summer Food Service Program in Weed beginning Monday, June 22nd. Bag lunches will be distributed near the gazebo at Bel Air Park on College Avenue adjacent to the swimming pool from noon – 1 PM Monday through Friday through August 17th.
Due to Carnevale activities, there is no meal service July 6th – 10th. Meals will be provided to all children ages 18 and under without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
The Weed Recreation and Parks District and the Family and Community Resource Center of Weed have a number of activities planned for children and teens during the course of summer vacation. Prize giveaways will also be a part of the lunchtime activities. The combined programs aim to get kids active and to enjoy a healthy nutritious lunch in an atmosphere of community.
